Dwight Oh, hey. Listen, Jim. Here’s a little tip for your performance review.
    Jim Okay.
Dwight Tell Michael that we should be stocking more of the double tabbed manilla file folders.
Jim We don’t have double tabbed manilla file folders.
Dwight Yeah, it’s a new product. So you should just suggest that to him, and then he’ll be sure to give you a raise.
Jim Well, I’m not asking for a raise. I’m gonna actually be asking for a pay decrease.
Dwight Uh, that is so stupid. What if he gives it to you?
    Jim Then I win.
Dwight Ugh. You know what, I am going to zone you out for the rest of today. Okay? I need to stay focused. And I don’t have to see you tomorrow or Sunday, please don’t call me and we’ll see how things go on Monday.

    1. Hey, listen, Jim. Here’s a little tip for your performance review.

조언하고자 할 때는 ‘here is a tip for~’ ‘give you a tip for~’ 등의 문장을 쓰면 됩니다. I will give you some tips for your negotiation with ABC(ABC 회사와의 협상에 필요한 조언을 드리지요)처럼 말이죠.

    2. I’m not asking for a raise. I’m gonna actually be asking for a pay decrease.

pay raise(임금인상), pay decrease(임금삭감)는 회사생활에 관한 기본적인 단어이니 익혀둡시다. We may have a pay decrease company-wide to avoid downsizing(인력감축을 피하기 위해 회사 전반적으로 임금삭감을 하게 될 겁니다) 같은 말은 되도록 안 듣는 게 좋겠지만요.

    3. You know what, I am going to zone you out for the rest of today.

요가나 명상 수업에서 ‘Relax, take a deep breath, and zone out for a while’이란 문장을 종종 씁니다.

    4. I need to stay focused. And I don’t have to see you tomorrow or Sunday, please don’t call me.

It is good to stay focused on the positive aspects of your job(당신 직업의 긍정적인 면에 집중하는 것이 좋겠습니다)처럼 활용해봅시다.
