tolerable(견딜 수 있는)과 acceptable(받아들일 수 있는)까지는 부정적 뉘앙스가 담겨 있다고 보면 된다. The agreement between the two firms is tolerable for the present but unlikely to last through the year(두 회사 간의 그 계약은 현재로선 감당할 만하지만, 1년 내내 지속되긴 힘들 거야). acceptable도 어느 정도는 받아들일 수 있지만 뒤집어질 여지가 있음을 의미하는 표현이다. The parties arrived at an acceptable solution to their disagreement through compromise(당사자들은 타협을 통해 서로 다른 입장에 대한 만족할 만한 해결책에 도달했다).

suitable(적합한)은 회화에서 쓰는 good, works well(잘 돌아간다)과 비슷한 뉘앙스다. The two financial institutions found that there was a suitable solution, which required only a bit of compromise for the time being and may yield large future financial rewards(두 금융회사는 약간의 절충점만 찾으면 합당하게 받아들일 만한 해결안을 찾게 됐어.

The deal finalized by the firms proved worthy of their stockholders(그 회사들이 마무리 지은 계약 건은 주주들에게 매우 적합한 조치였던 것으로 판명됐어). The admirable agreement between the two firms would benefit stockholders, company employees, and the natural environment(두 회사 간의 그 존경할 만한 합의는 주주들, 직원들은 물론 자연환경에도 혜택을 주게 될 거야).

The investor had an advantage over his colleagues; his broker knew city inspection officials and was easily granted permits to make changes(그 투자자는 다른 동료들에 비해 이점이 있었다.
