    Dwight MICHAEL!
Michael OH! God. Dwight, come on.
Dwight I wanted to talk to you about the downsizing.
Michael Look, look, look. I talked to corporate, and they said they couldn’t guarantee it if there’s downsizing, okay? But there’s no downsizing, so just don’t….
Dwight Bottom line. Do I need to be worried?
Michael (shakes head) Mmm, mm, mm. (quickly) Maybe.
Michael And it’s part of my job, but… blah! I hate it. I think the main difference between me and Donald Trump is that, uh, I get no pleasure out of saying the words, “You’re fired.” I think if I had a catchphrase it would be, “You’re hired, and you can work here as long as you want.” But that’s unrealistic, so….

    1. They said they couldn’t guarantee it if there’s downsizing, okay?

I can’t guarantee that Mr. James will be here on time(제임스 씨가 제 시간에 여기 오실지 장담 못하겠네요)처럼 말이죠. We guarantee this washing machine for one year(저희는 이 세탁기에 대해 1년간 보증을 제공합니다)처럼요.

    2. Bottom line. Do I need to be worried?

Let’s get to the bottom line(결론을 얘기합시다), The bottom line is that we wish to add more budgets to this project(결론은 이 프로젝트에 예산을 더 투입하고 싶다는 겁니다) 등 비즈니스 대화에서 유용합니다.

    3. I get no pleasure out of saying the words, You’re fired.

I get no pleasure out of~는 ‘~를 함으로써 기쁨을 느끼지 못한다’는 뜻입니다. I get no pleasure out of flattering the powerful(난 권력자에게 아부할 때 전혀 기쁘지 않아)이겠지요?

    4. I think if I had a catchphrase it would be, You’re hired, and you can work here as long as you want.

여기서 일하고 싶을 때까지 맘껏 일하세요”였을 겁니다. as long as~는 ‘~할 때까지’라는 뜻으로 백스트리트 보이즈의 노래가사 ‘as long as you love me’(네가 날 사랑할 때까지)로도 유명합니다. As long as no other female contender joins the competition, Mr. Dallas is guaranteed a seat(다른 여성 후보가 경선에 나서지 않는 한 댈러스 의원은 자리가 보장돼 있다)처럼 말이죠.
